Austin Shenton and Nate Pearsall homered to lead Bellingham’s baseball team to a 16-4 win in six innings over Mount Baker on Tuesday, March 31, at Bellingham. Mount Baker was the home team in the Northwest Conference contest.
Shenton was 2 for 3 with four RBI, and Pearsall was 3 for 3 with three RBI. An eight-run rally in the second gave Bellingham an early lead that Mount Baker couldn’t overcome.
“Our guys came in pretty focused and had good ABs and hit a lot of balls hard today,” Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview.
Grant Balvanz led the Mountaineers, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored. He legged out some infield singles, which impressed Farrell, he said.
Bellingham hosts Squalicum at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Joe Martin Stadium. Mount Baker hosts Concrete at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at home.
