Ferndale’s softball team chipped away at a three-run deficit and managed to overcome Sedro-Woolley for a 4-3 non-conference win on Wednesday, March 18, at home.
The Golden Eagles were led by Amanda Baker, who was 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Drew Westford was also 2 for 3, hitting a double and scoring a run in the victory.
Lauren Maley took the win, pitching the final four innings after Baker’s start for Ferndale. Maley had three strikeouts and Baker punched out two Cubs.
“I thought they worked at the game and when we got down early in the second inning they didn’t panic,” Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. “They just kept working away and tried to make adjustments.”
