Lynden girls’ wrestling earned third place with 124 points on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Lady Wolfpack Invite at Jackson.
Othello finished first with 173 points, Yelm was second with 159 and Mount Baker earned fourth place with 117 points.
“To come ahead of Baker once in seven years is a big accomplishment for us,” Lynden coach Santos Gallegos said in a phone interview. “It was nice for the girls to see that if we put our heart in it we can do well.”
For Lynden, Thalia Veliz won a tournament title. Seniada Valiz, Natalie Schweigert, Karina Martinez and Kali Spady all finished in third place.
For Mount Baker, Natalie Smith (125) and Taylor Van Brocklin (135) came in first. Korbyn Cadle (115) and Rachel Nichols (145) placed second.
