Ferndale’s top five boys’ golfers all shot 90 or under to take first at a Northwest Conference golf match on Tuesday, May 5, at Grandview Golf Course.
Daniel Erickson led the Golden Eagles with a 78, as the team scored 419. He was two shots off the leader, Burlington-Edison’s Connor Atkinson, who had a 76.
“It was our first tournament win of the season, and our first since we hosted at Grandview last year,” Ferndale coach Joel Wark said in a phone interview. “Our team score tied our lowest this season, too. Daniel Erickson played a really consistent game. He probably could have played better, but he was hitting the ball well and our top guys have been really consistent toward the end of the season.”
Lynden Christian’s Lincoln Olson also shot a 78 to lead his team to fourth with 432 points.
Squalicum shot 442, led by Tavo O’Connell’s 82. Sehome was sixth with 455 behind Thomas Mankle’s 83, and Mount Baker was seventh with 494 behind Jed Scheimer’s 94.
