Squalicum’s girls’ tennis team defeated Lynden 4-3 on Wednesday, April 29, at the Lynden YMCA.
Squalicum’s Sarah Byron defeated Bridget Johnson by a score of 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. The Squalicum No. 1 doubles team of Kim and Rachel Dorr defeated Alex Schulhauser and Kelsey Hewson 6-2, 6-1.
Lions Emily Corbin defeated Katrina Steffan 6-4, 6-3 and Abi Steele defeated Hope Jorgenson 6-1, 6-3.
“My seniors played well today. I was proud of them,” Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “To be as close as we were with Squalicum. It was a lot of fun.”
Lynden will play Sehome next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at home. Squalicum will take on Bellingham next at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, at home.
