Ezra Arneson shot a 70 to win the medalist position as his Lynden boys’ golf team came just three strokes short of a win on Tuesday, April 28, at North Bellingham Golf Course.
The Lions were second overall with a score of 414, as Burlington-Edison shot a 411 team score to take first.
Ferndale was third with 419, led by Keenan Souve’s 76.
“The Ferndale kids played well and as a team they moved to a good position,” Lynden coach Russ Dorr said in a phone interview. “We faltered a little bit, but it was a good match. A lot can happen yet with district implications. I was really pleased with Ezra’s 70. That was good. We’ll face Bellingham on Thursday and then it could be a race to the finish.”
Meridian was fourth with a 438 and was paced by Nick Rautenberg’s 77.
Sehome followed with a 445 behind Cameron Adrian’s and Johnny Baker’s scores of 88 each. Their teammates Thomas Mankle and Kyle Reilly each shot 89.
Mount Baker had a 489, led by Mason Bass’ 91, and Blaine shot a 499 behind Jackson Bray’s 86.
