Oriana LoCicero defeated Saskia Dolk in the No. 1 singles match to lead Bellingham’s girls’ tennis team to a 7-0 victory against Blaine on Monday, April 27, at Blaine High School.
LoCicero defeated Dolk by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
“Saskia beat Oriana pretty convincingly last time,” Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. “She was able to turn the tables in this match. It was a good win for Oriana. She’s been playing well.”
At the No. 4 singles, the Red Raiders’ Katie Kales defeated the Borderites’ Addy Hagen 6-0, 6-4 in Hagen’s first varsity singles match.
“Addy played a competitive set,” Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. “It was good to have her go in and be competitive.”
Bellingham’s Mariah Miller and Ellie Iwersen defeated Blaine’s Mandy Hayes and Gretchen Kordas in the No. 1 doubles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
“Ellie and Mariah looked really good. They seem to be a pretty effective team and I just like how they compete,” Chronister said. “We play them together quite a bit and are getting them ready for postseason.”
Blaine will take on Ferndale next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at home. Bellingham will play Sehome next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, on the road in a battle between two undefeated teams.
Bellingham 7, Blaine 0
