Lynden’s girls’ tennis team took a 6-1 loss to Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, April 14, at the Lynden YMCA.
Emily Corbin scored a 6-0, 6-2 win for the Lions. Abbi Steele also had a 6-0, 6-1 win, but her match was forfeited to Sedro-Woolley because she attends Nooksack Valley.
In doubles play, the team of Ketta VandenBos and Mikaela Humphreys suffered a close 6-3, 5-7 (10-8) loss as the Cubs swept the doubles match-ups.
“I was proud of Abbi and Emily. They played solid from start to finish,” Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “The third doubles team (VandenBos and Humphreys) played a really good match. It was long and really close right to the end.”
Lynden plays Anacortes at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Anacortes.
