Lynden’s girls’ tennis team won three of the four singles matches, led by Bridget Johnson’s two-set victory in its 4-3 win against Ferndale on Wednesday, April 1, at Lynden YMCA.
“I was proud of (Bridget) Johnson. She had her hands full and battled a good girl with a good serve,” Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “She kept her head in it and finished strong. It’s not easy to play number one in this league.”
Abbi Steele, a Nooksack Valley student that plays for Lynden, defeated Trina Byers in three sets but Ferndale won the match due to forfeit.
“Abbi played an amazing match that took a little over two hours to complete,” Ballard said.

The Lions’ Stephanie Johnston defeated Holly Clark in two sets to cap off the singles matches.
Lynden takes on Blaine next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Lynden YMCA and Ferndale will play Sehome next at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, on the road.
