Squalicum’s girls’ tennis team swept singles play in a 5-2 win over Lynden on Monday, March 30, at Squalicum.
Kim Dorr, Rachel Dorr, Sarah Byron and Hope Jorgenson all earned singles wins for the Storm.
“I was impressed with our singles play today,” Squalicum coach Joe O’Brien said in a phone interview. “Kim and Rachel had their first chance to play singles and they were impressive. They settled in and played well. Their ground stroke was terrific and they usually play doubles, so they used that in singles to attack the net and it worked quite well today.”
Lynden’s doubles teams of Alex Schulhauser and Kelsey Hewson, and Brooke Schiffman and Stephanie Johnston each earned three-set wins over Squalicum teams.
Lucy Cornwell and Stefanie Limbauch were the other Squalicum team to earn a win at No. 2 doubles.
Squalicum plays next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Bellingham. Lynden hosts Bellingham at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the Lynden YMCA.
