Outlook: The defending Class 2A state champions are back and show no real signs of slowing down with any group of talented athletes. From relays, to distance, to middle-distance, to throws, to jumps, the Mariners return state experience. The only possible question mark could be sprints, where Sehome graduated standout Sarah Dolese. “We have a really good group all-around,” Sehome coach Kevin Ryan. “We lost maybe our super star in the sprints, but we have a lot of good girls working hard that have really come a long way there.” Distance should again be a strong suit, with Emily Pittis, last year’s 3,200 title winner, coming back for her senior year. Bridget Henry and Elsa Sandeno return from Sehome’s 4x200 state title relay team and Dana Ringer gives the team even more track speed. Jessa Clark and Meleri Cummins give the team a strong jumps presence, and Chanelle Eddy headlines the team’s throwing crew.
