Bellingham, Squalicum and Sehome qualified each of its boys’ swimming divers for districts at the Northwest District Dive meet on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Fidalgo Pool.
Griffen Korby and Wilson Dierdorff, both from Squalicum, posted state-qualifying scores of 372.94 and 361.25, respectively. Korby took third and Dierdorff was fourth.
“It was good to have Griffen qualify for state. Wilson already had qualified, but he had another qualifying dive,” Bellingham schools dive coach Rhonda Flatz-Stouder said in a phone interview. “Because he already qualified we tried some new, harder dives.”
Korby and Dierdorff had degrees of difficulty of 12.2 and 12.9, respectively, well above the 11.6 required to qualify for state.

Other area divers qualifying for districts included Squalicum diver Gabriel Kamkoff (272.05), Bellingham’s Koa Hanks (269.60) and Daren McCune (163.80), and Sehome’s Trey Herron (238.55)
