Lynden’s girls’ wrestling team earned a 30-18 win over Mount Vernon on a day when there were only two contested matches at the meet Thursday, Jan. 29, at Mount Vernon.
Kali Spady earned a pin in 3 minutes, 2 seconds for the win.
“It went so fast the announcer thought we broke a record,” Lynden coach Santos Gallegos said in a phone interview. “We bumped up Kali because she wanted to wrestle (Rosie) Lopez. That’s what you as a wrestler look forward to, competing when they want to wrestle.”
In the meet’s other match, Senaida Veliz suffered a loss by pinfall in the second round.
Never miss a local story.
Lynden takes part in the Lady Wolfpack Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Jackson in Mill Creek.
