The Lynden boys’ swim team nearly earned its first win of the season, but ultimately suffered an 86-83 Northwest Conference loss to Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.
Lynden won only two events, but the Lions’ depth showed throughout the meet.
Jon Wiley won the 500 freestyle with a time of 6 minutes, 10 seconds, and Justin Hagedorn won the 100 breaststroke with a 1:15.70.
“We have a lot of depth, so we hung in there,” Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. “We had lots of time drops in the lower tier. The younger guys were strong, big drops.”
Never miss a local story.
Lynden’s next meet is the NWC B Championships at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb.6, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.
