Nooksack Valley’s boys’ wrestling team scored four pinfall wins in a 45-27 win over Squalicum on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Nookack Valley.
Michael O’Brien (138 pounds), Taylor Gardner (152), Alvaro Jose (182) and Tyson Mergel (285) were the Pioneers to score pins.
Jared Parson’s win by decision and Brennan Blankers’ close loss by decision stood out to Nooksack Valley assistant coach Trevor Parson.
“Jared has a knee injury and he wrestled up a weight class and won,” Trevor Parson said in a phone interview. “He had really good defense, which probably won it. He had two takedowns and an escape. Blankers, even though he lost, wrestled a really solid kid. He actually scored a takedown and escape. He was very active, ... constantly moving.”
Never miss a local story.
The Storm earn pinfall wins by Jace Cooper (120) and Spencer Wallace (132).
