Mount Baker’s boys’ wrestling team fell short in its 54-36 defeat at the hands of Anacortes on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Mount Baker High School.
The Mountaineers’ David Kotsyuba at the 138 weight class defeated his opponent due to injury and Raiven McCormick (145) won by a pin at the 2:15 mark.
“Raiven and David are both freshman for us and David was wrestling well until the injury occurred,” Mount Baker coach Roger Goodwin said in a phone interview. “They both wrestled better than they have been, they came out to wrestle and were ready to go.”
Mount Baker will wrestle next at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, in the Northwest Conference Tournament at Sehome.
