Blaine’s boys’ wrestling team came out of the Tri-State Tournament at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Saturday, Dec. 20, with no medalists, but did have wrestlers who performed well in the tournament.
“We had three guys make the second day of the tournament, which was impressive,” Blaine coach Craig Foster said in a phone interview.
The tournament consisted of a 64-man bracket with the top wrestlers from multiple states throughout the country.
Gage Lott won five matches at the 126-pound class, finishing the tournament with a 5-2 record.
Never miss a local story.
Anthony Frey won four matches at the 132-pound class, and was two matches away from medaling in the tournament.
In the 138-pound class, Riley Fritsch was in a bracket which consisted of seven state champions. He finished the tournament winning four matches and one match shy of medaling.
“For Riley to win four matches at the 138 weight class as a sophomore in a bracket like that is impressive,” Foster said.
Blaine wrestles next on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Vashon Invite.
