Sehome’s boys’ wrestling team out-pinned Nooksack Valley for a 48-30 win where every match was decided by forfeit or pin on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Sehome.
The Mariners’ Zach Zimmerman had the quickest pin of the meet, in 33 seconds at 220 pounds. Davis Canfield-Cole had his first pin at home as a varsity wrestler at 195 pounds in 4:52.
“Obviously it was pin or be pinned,” Sehome coach Scott Schroyer said in a phone interview. “Both teams are young and green, and I was proud to see improvement from last weekend. They’re working hard and you can see the improvement.”
Aiden Van Brink (126), Chandler Heintz (132) and Liam Irwin (120) also stood out for their wins by pin, Schroyer added.
Nooksacsk Valley got pin wins from Michael O’Brien (138), Joseph JEfferson (145), Alex McLarin (152) and Jared Parson (170).
Nooksack Valley’s next match will be on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Iron Sharpens Iron tournament at Bellevue Christian and Sehome’s next match will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, in the Battle of the Border at Blaine.
