Bellingham’s boys’ tennis team had all the answers in a 7-0 Northwest Conference win over Lynden on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Lynden High School.
The Red Raiders’ Connor Thompson controlled the No. 1 singles match with Dylan Meenk, winning 6-0, 6-2.
“Dylan was playing good tennis, but Connor didn’t let him get into the match,” Lynden (3-4, 3-4 NWC) coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “Dylan played as good as he can but Connor had all the answers.”
The No. 1 doubles match was the marathon match to watch, as Logan Schilder and Nate Pearsall of Bellingham (8-0, 7-0 NWC) defeated Dakota Davis and Ben Mulder 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The match lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes.
“Ben and Dakota didn’t play a good first set, but they really responded and played a good second and third,” Ballard said. “It was fun tennis to watch. You got to give Bellingham a lot of credit.”
Lynden faces Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Oct. 2, on the road. Bellingham plays Sehome Thursday, at Sehome.
