Bellingham’s boys’ tennis team cruised to a 7-0 Northwest Conference victory over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Sedro-Woolley.
The only match that went three sets was between the Red Raiders’ doubles pairing of Garrett Walker and Lucas Irwin and the Cubs’ pairing of Tristan Bradford and Tye Thomspon. Walker and Irwin earned a 10-4 super-set win in the third to secure Bellingham’s sweep.
“Our guys got off to a slow start, and I really liked how they turned things around,” Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. “I was very happy. They showed intelligence and toughness.”
No. 1 singles player Connor Thompson was also impressive in a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Bellingham (7-0 overall, NWC 6-0) travel to face Lynden on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
