Lynden Christian’s volleyball team scored a big 3-0 win over cross-town rival Lynden on Thursday, Sept. 25, at Lynden in a Northwest Conference match.
Madison Weg’s 11 kills, five blocks and 17 assists led the Lyncs to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 win. Kara Bajema added 12 kills and eight digs, and Emily Veening had 17 digs.
“It was definitely a big win,” Lynden Christian coach Kim Grycel said in a phone interview. “All three games were tight. Lynden played really well. We responded well to being down a couple of times. We scored 10 of the last 12 in the third game.”
Lynden was led by Alexis Shindruk’s six kills and 12 digs and Lauren Roddy’s five kills and four blocks. Shindruk also stood out on serve-receive, coach Julie Clift said.
“There was a lot of energy in the gym and they responded really well,” Clift said in a phone interview. “Alexis’ passes were over two-thirds perfect. She was really strong and had consistent hitting.
