Bellingham’s boys’ tennis team battled with Squalicum but came out victorious in a 5-2 Northwest Conference win on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Bellingham High School.
The Red Raiders doubles team of Zach Nolan and Chris Nakatani had a great match, as the duo came out on top of Carter Nickelson and Liam Brownlie 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
“I thought Zach and Chris played a really good third set,” Bellingham (6-0, 5-0 NWC) coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview.
Squalicum’s Drew Segren topped Connor Thompson at No. 1 singles 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5) and Geogre Ashley and Zac Gosda got the victory at No. 3 doubles for Squalicum.
“We knew all the matches were going to be good matches,” Chronister said. “Even when the score didn’t show it, there were long rallies and good shots.”
