Sehome’s boys’ tennis team topped Ferndale 7-0 in a Northwest Conference contest on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Sehome High School.
The No. 1 Sehome (4-0, 4-0 NWC) doubles team of Aaron Golfogel and William Zhang played in the closest match of the day when they defeated the Ferndale (2-4, 2-4 NWC) Maxwell Jeffery and Lake Sullivan 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
“They were impressive,” Sehome coach Bonna Giller said in a phone interview. “After they lost the first 4-6, it looked like they were sinking. ... It was a big stretch for Aaron and William to come back and win that match.”
All the doubles teams on Sehome are getting better with every swing of the racket, Giller said.
Sehome plays Anacortes on Friday, Sept. 26, on the road. Ferndale faces Burlington-Edison on Friday at home.
