Bellingham’s girls’ swimming team lost just one race to take a 108-55 win over Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference meet Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Fidalgo Pool.
The Red Raiders’ Anna McNabb was a part of all three winning relay teams and won the 500 freestyle in 6 minutes, 25.83 seconds.
“It was a whole-team effort,” Bellingham coach Jeff Anderson said in a phone interview. “The exciting race was the last one (400 freestyle relay). Our B girls came from behind to take second in a neck-and-neck race. The last 25 (yards) our girls were able to pull it out. It was an exciting end to the meet.”
Emma Lochridge also stood out to Anderson, as she won the 100 backstroke in 1:26.67 and was a part of that second-place 400 freestyle relay team.
Never miss a local story.
“Emma really impressed me with how she sucked it up in the 100 back, and she had a good time in the relay, too,” Anderson said.
Bellingham’s next swim meet is the Northwest Conference Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Fidalgo Pool.
