Sehome’s volleyball team earned a sweep of Lynden, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16, in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Sehome High School.
Megan Greer had 25 assists and two aces for the Mariners. Emily Greer added four aces and nine digs, and Dani Johnson had nine kills and an ace.
“I thought we came out strong, but Lynden made us play the ball,” Sehome coach Kristy White said in a phone interview. “We had a rough practice yesterday, but we cleaned up and I was proud that they persevered past what we did in practice. We played as one and trusted each other. We were losing the first game 20-20 until we beat them for five more points.”
Lynden was led by Catyler Alex’s 20 digs, and Lauren Roddy added 10 kills.
“The whole team came out with a lot more intensity than the last time we played Sehome,” Lynden coach Julie Clift said in a phone interview. “The scores don’t reflect the competitiveness. We just need to work on keeping it up.”
Sehome will look for another win at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Burlington-Edison. Lynden plays next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Blaine.
