After Day 1 of the Joe Beam Invitational at Sehome High School on Friday, the Squalicum wrestling team is in good shape.
The Storm are sitting in first place with 124 points, seven ahead of second-place Blaine, and have the most undefeated wrestlers moving on to Day 2 in the tournament.
“Squalicum is dominating the tournament with large numbers and quality JV kids,” Sehome assistant wrestling coach Jeff Wendling said in a phone interview.
The Storm still have a lot of competition ahead. Ferndale is currently fourth with 100 points, Sehome is sixth and Meridian is sitting in 10th heading into Day 2. Wrestling resumes today at 10 a.m. and finals will start at 5 p.m.
