Coach: Rick Skeen
Last year: 20-8 (9-4 NWC), ad-vanced to Class 2A state tournament but did not place.
Players to watch: Jake Anderson (Sr., G/F), Kolby Arendse (Sr., G/F), Matt Tiscornia (Sr., G), Josh Lott (Sr., F)
Never miss a local story.
Outlook: Practices have been kind of lonesome for Skeen so far with the football team’s trip to the Class 2A state championship game. Skeen said he is expecting 15 football players to come out for basketball and has been able to practice with only two of his top 10 players so far. Once everybody is in the gym and in basketball shape, the Tigers figure to be dangerous. Anderson, a second-team all-NWC player last year, led Burlington with 14.5 points per game last season, and Arendse is a three-year varsity starter who averaged 9.3 points per game last year. Both are athletic players who give Burlington a lot of versatility either on the wing or in the post. Burlington did lose PG Jake Stull to graduation, but they have seven seniors who obviously have are playoff tested with last year’s run to the state tournament and the success of this year’s football team. Burlington-Edison has the talent to win the conference title and may be one of the contenders at state.
