Western Washington University’s Kaylie Greninger is the first-day leader in the heptathlon and the Vikings’ Michael Stralzer was scratched from the decathlon after suffering a pulled hamstring in action Thursday, Apr. 2, at the WWU Combined Events Track & Field Meet being held at Civic Stadium.
It is the first heptathlon for Greninger, who holds a 514-point advantage with a four-event total of 2,356. She ran a 17.14 100-meter hurdles, cleared 4-9 1/2 in the high jump, tossed the shot put 32-4 3/4 and ran the 200 in 27.42.
Olympic CC’s Jayson Brocklesby is the pace setter in the decathlon with 3,102 points, 372 better than teammate Hunter Keffer.
Stralser’s injury came in the long jump, the day’s second event.
