Western Washington University’s Ryan Macdonald and Anna Paradee have been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Men’s and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 15-21.
Macdonald, a senior from Sehome High School, had a provisional national qualifying mark of 177-4 in winning the discus at the Rose City Preview meet last Saturday. That effort, a school record, broke the GNAC standard that had stood since 2006 by two feet, and leads the nation in NCAA Division II.
Paradee, a freshman from Tacoma, also had a PNQ in capturing the pole vault at the Rose City meet, clearing 12-1/2. She ranks fourth nationally.
