Guard Kyle Impero scored a team-high 24 points and tied for game-high honors with six assists and forward Anye Turner had a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in leading the White to a 99-88 victory over the Blue in the 22nd Annual Western Washington University men’s basketball intra-squad game Sunday, Oct. 27, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Impero, a transfer from Whatcom Community College, where he earned Northwest Athletic Conference Northern Region MVP honors last season, scored 14 points in the second half.
Center Mac Johnson scored a game-high 25 points for the Blue, which also got 24 points from guard Jaamon Echols. Johnson hit 10-of-12 shots from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
The White used a 12-3 run, during which Mark Hopkins hit two 3-pointers, to take a 17-point lead, 54-37, with 1:43 left in the first half. The White led, 57-44, at halftime.

The Blue managed to cut the lead to single digits once in the second half, 85-76, on a 3-pointer by Harris Javier with 5:36 remaining in the game.
But the White responded with two free throws by Ricardo Maxwell and a jumper and dunk by Turner to go up 91-76 with 3:57 left, and the Blue never got closer than 11 after that.
Maxwell finished with 18 points and six assists.
Trey Drechsel had a double-double for the Blue with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Joey Schreiber had 19 points and nine rebounds for the White.
