Two wins last week has clinched the Western Washington women's soccer team a GNAC tournament playoff spot while earning the Vikings Red Lion Hotels GNAC Team of the Week honors.
Three goals, six assists, eight saves and six points in the standings came out of the week, solidifying that the Vikings (8-0-2 conference, 12-0-2 overall) couldn't finish lower than fourth in the final standings.
The top four teams advance to the GNAC tournament Nov. 6-8 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA West Regional, which begins the following week.
WWU forward Catherine Miles took the offensive honor and defender Katherine Miccile was the co-defensive honoree as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week accolades were announced for Oct. 12-18.

Miles, a junior from Anacortes, scored three of the Vikings’ four goals as they took a pair of victories. She tied the game against Montana State Billings with just over three minutes left in regulation before scoring the game winner seven minutes into overtime. Miles also tallied WWU’s first goal in its 2-0 win over Northwest Nazarene.
Miccile, a senior from Kent, played outstanding one-on-one defense in both contests and was credited with a game-winning assist in the victory over MSUB.
