Western Washington University is ranked No. 15 in the Division II Bulletin 2014-15 Women's Basketball Pre-season Top 25 released Tuesday, Oct. 7.
The Vikings return four starters from last year's team which finished 19-10, won the GNAC Post-Season Tournament and reached the first round of the West Regional. It was their 15th regional appearance in 16 seasons as a NCAA II member.
WWU head coach Carmen Dolfo enters her 24th season with a 494-183 record and a 73.0 winning percentage. She needs six more victories to become the first four-year college coach in the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest to reach 500 at one university in those states.
The quartet of senior first stringers back includes 5-9 guard Katie Colard, a first-team GNAC all-star who averaged 14.7 points per game; 6-0 forward Sydney Donaldson, who averaged 9.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks; 5-8 guard Marcel Pounds, who averaged 4.1 points; and 5-5 point guard Jenni White, the GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player who averaged 10.4 points and 2.2 assists.

Expected to complete the starting five is 6-3 center Kayla Bernsen, who missed last season with a torn ACL after averaging 5.2 points and 3.7 rebounds as a sophomore.
Big contributions are also expected from two sophomores, 6-1 post-player Tia Briggs and 5-9 guard Taylor Peacocke. As freshmen last year, Briggs averaged 9.7 points and Peacocke 11.0.
Ranked No. 1 nationally is Cal Poly Pomona.
