Making a huge about face following a rough first three holes, Western Washington University is fourth among 16 teams after first-day play Monday, Sept. 22, at the Western New Mexico University Mustang Women’s Golf Invitational Tournament being played at the Coldwater Golf Club.
The Vikings shot 297 and is four strokes off the lead. St. Mary’s TX is first at 293, two shots better than Sonoma State (295) and three better than Cal Baptist (296).
Three schools are within three shots of WWU – Adams State being fifth (298), Colorado Mesa sixth (299) and Point Loma seventh (300).
Highly regarded WWU freshman Jenn Paul began her collegiate career by shooting a team-best 1-under par 71. She is tied for fourth in medalist play with Mariah Fuller from Point Loma.
