The Whatcom Community College men’s basketball team jumped all over Olympic College right from the start and rolled to an 82-64 win at home on Saturday.
“The first 10 minutes of play tonight was probably the best I’ve seen them play,” Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview.
Whatcom led 39-24 at halftime. Olympic pulled to within 10 at one point during the second half, but from there Whatcom pulled away and never led by less than that again.
Scrimsher said his team got what it expected from Olympic, which was a lot of outside shooting. That led to a lot of rebounding opportunities and Whatcom took advantage. WCC outrebounded Olympic 55-33 led By Ryan Christensen’s eight boards.
Offensively, Whatcom was led by Steve Webb’s 18 points, Christensen finished with 14 and also dished out five assists and Zach Henifin scored 10 points.
Whatcom (10-4 overall, 2-0 NWAACC) will host Seattle Community College on Wednesday.
