Ski to Sea race results updated for corporate, rec women divisions

Results for the 2009 Ski to Sea race have been updated in the corporate and recreational women's divisions, according to race director Pete Coy.

Washington State Patrol Iron Bears won the corporate division in the Sunday, May 24, relay race from Mt. Baker Ski Area to Marine Park in Bellingham.

On race day, the Mt. Baker Ski Patrol D Team was erroneously listed as finishing first in the corporate division. That team actually finished 16th. The problem occurred when the team's cyclist got delayed on the mountain and had to be issued a new timing chip. That threw off the results, Coy said.

In the recreational women's division, Venus Envy won. Team Painted Toe Nails had been listed as taking first place, but that team actually was third in the recreational mixed division.

Team Painted Toe Nails replaced a member with a man and alerted Ski to Sea officials to the change before the race, Coy said. But Ski to Sea officials didn't make the division change before the results were released, causing the error.
