Q: I was searching your website to find a story about a young man who was murdered last weekend (I heard he was hung from a tree), but I couldn't find one article about the incident. Where do you keep old stories and is there any breaking news about the murder?

A: We are aware of the suicide of Ray Taumoae. Despite rampant rumors of him being chased by a gang and stabbed, there is no such evidence. The coroner found no stab wounds and no evidence of any struggle. Police also found nothing to indicate anything but suicide. Ray was despondent over a breakup with his girlfriend and hanged himself from a tree. Bellingham police normally do not issue press releases on suicides but made an exception this time because of the wild rumors around town. You can find it here: http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/1264/1157039/ The Bellingham Herald has the same policy as many newspapers across the country when it comes to suicides. We do not publish information about them unless the event was witnessed by a large number of people or involved a public figure. Very few witnessed this; Ray was found around dawn Friday. We are standing by our policy. The family has enough pain without the newspaper breaking policy and writing about their son's suicide.

Q: Julie, I don't know who this should go to-so pls forward it if its not you. You look like you have your hands full as it is. I am having navigational problems on your site, since about 3 weeks ago. So to explain: I am not able to make a comment on any article, I am not able to "reply", not can I "like" another's comment. I can click on those buttons but they don't go anywhere. And by the way, I am not having this problem with any other website. So if the problem should be mine, please let me know what I can do on this side that might allow me to perform these actions. Maybe you or someone else around there can pinpoint the problem for me. Also, the blue-lined links don't work for me. I couldn't email you or Jim D from your list of contacts. The links would not go anywhere. That's why I am emailing you through "contact us" at the top of the pages. That did work. So please ask around to see if someone knows if its me or you, and if its me, what can I do to make those links work! Frustrating. Thanks Pam C.

A: I hope you'd been able to reach us in other ways, I'm just now seeing this comment. Others aren't having the same issues, so it's something in the settings on your computer. Do you have popup blockers on? Have you tried clearing your cache and relaunching your browser? If that doesn't work, you can email me directly at julie.shirley@bellinghamherald.com. Please let me know the email you're registered with and your login name.

A: Is this happening on stories linked from today's home page, or on older stories that you've saved links to? Stories expire after a year and then are only accessible from the paid archive. If you're not able to access new stories, try clearing your cache and relaunching your browser.
