It’s good to know that the PeaceHealth Adult Day Health program will be continued for the next several months.
But as a user of Adult Day Health’s services for families of aging parents, it saddens me to think that there will be a diminishment of necessary health services for the elderly within Bellingham when these services are moved to Lynden in mid-2015.
A trip out to the county presents a much greater financial and time commitment for families than a trip within the city, especially if services are needed frequently. And as the city’s population continues to grow, the need for services for the elderly and their families will also be growing. Can PeaceHealth continue to say they to serve the needs of all Whatcom County’s citizens, and at the same time make such a drastic cut to much-needed health services within the county’s largest population center?
I sincerely hope PeaceHealth will reconsider, and find a way to reinstate this program somewhere in Bellingham.
Never miss a local story.
