No one relishes unnecessary death. But those who sympathize with civilian victims in Gaza, please ask yourselves: Why hasn't Hamas, Gaza's elected leaders, done more to protect its people, as Israel has? Why did legions of workers willingly build war tunnels instead of schools, homes, mosques and medical clinics with the estimated $100 million spent on tunnel materials? I believe many (if not most) of the deaths in Gaza came from Hamas' deliberate plan to attack Israel, then cause as many Gazan deaths as possible by hiding weapons and tunnel entrances in civilian neighborhoods and buildings (without, apparently, any civilian or U.N. backlash). Then they used graphic images plus daily casualty and death reports to garner your sympathy for the human shields they put in harm's way. Let's call this what it is: reprehensible human sacrifice. Let's heap shame, not sympathy, on Hamas and the Gazan people who support them, and sympathize only for the truly innocent minority in Gaza and the bombarded civilians of Israel.
