I believe unions were useful in their time, but unions are not friends with the consumers or the employers. There is a greed gap, less work, more pay and higher cost to consumer. Either the company shuts down or it struggles to maintain profitability by laying people off. I believe this is true with the Sakuma Bros. Farm operation, which is a multiple-family operation. Unions go to the larger farms and make wishful promises to the employees, consequently causing unrest and legal disputes. I, and most farmers, pay better than minimum wage and bring young folk into employment as a trainer and first-time employer. I believe farm labor unions are only looking at the money they can collect from their members. No farmer can afford all their employees desire unless you are panning gold near a gold mine. I believe the Sakumas do not deserve the pressures served on them by the union.
