I believe we have a serious problem all across America but we can start right here in Washington State to correct this wrong. It has to do with individuals committing crimes against other people, and their property, only to have their sentences plea bargained down by prosecuting attorneys to what usually amounts to little more than a slap on the wrist. And I know this for a fact, because I am one of those victims.
Therefore I would like to see a Crime Victim's Bill of Rights written and submitted as a Washington State Initiative that would require that all prosecuting attorneys first acquire permission from any crime victim before they can offer any plea bargain deal to that specific offending criminal. I think that it is totally ridiculous that victims of a crime have absolutely no say in the outcome of the judicial process after a crime is committed against them in this state.
If there is someone out their who agrees with this and knows how to write and sponsor a state initiative I would be more than willing to not only sign it, but also help in any other aspect that I possibly can, to get it passed!
