Hypocrisy and its twin, sanctimony, reign supreme in our halls of government. The missile that brought down Malaysian Air flight HF17 has been identified as Russian-made, and already official Washington is fulminating against Russia, although we don't yet know who fired the missile. We do know that more than 400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza over the past week, more than the number of passengers and crew on flight HF17.We know, as well, who is working the killing fields of Gaza and that they are using weapons and munitions of American manufacture and acting with our government's approbation.
I believe we have given Israel free rein to exploit the murder of three young Israelis; accordingly, Israel has revved up its killing machine and is laying waste to Gaza, although there is no shred of proof for me that Hamas was responsible for the murders. If we hold Russia responsible for the downing of flight HF17, we must hold ourselves doubly responsible not only for manufacturing the munitions responsible for murdering and maiming Palestinian children, but also for abetting their use.
For too long we have accepted Israel's flimsy justifications for launching terrorist campaigns against its neighbors. It's past time for demanding accountability.
