Do you know how many students passed the Washington Assessment of Student Learning in Whatcom County last year? How about the demographic makeup of local high schools, or the number of weapons that were found in schools in Whatcom County last year?
Finding the answers to those questions can be as easy as logging on to the Internet and clicking a couple of buttons.
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, which oversees K-12 education in the state, tracks data about schools and makes it public on its Web site.
Each school and school district in the state has a report card, showing test scores, student demographics and teacher statistics.
On the district report cards, you can also find information about how much is spent on teacher salaries, transportation and buildings.
The state also provides statistics about weapons in school, graduation rates, school types, testing information and legislation.
