BLAINE - U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested one man and seized more than 64 pounds of marijuana near the U.S.-Canada border Saturday morning, June 20.
Blaine agents saw several people running between a car and the woods near H Street and Flambeau Road, but the car fled when agents approached, according to CBP. Agents then stopped the car and arrested the driver after finding a duffel bag filled with 55 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana nearby. The marijuana was worth an estimated $324,000.
The driver, vehicle and drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. A CBP spokesman wouldn't release the driver's name and said the case was still under investigation by the DEA.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, which handles DEA cases, couldn't be reached for more information Monday afternoon.
