EVERSON — One man died and two more were injured Thursday, Oct. 9, when two cars collided at the intersec-tion of Trapline and East Badger roads.

Garry Lee Kornemann, 67, of Everson may have suffered a heart attack and died after the crash, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m.

Kornemann was driving a 1982 Cadillac on Trapline Road, when he went through a stop sign and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Kenneth E. West, said Wash-ington State Patrol Trooper Robert Wilson.

The Whatcom County Medi-cal Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, Wilson said.

West, 41, of Lynden, and Kornemann’s passenger, 58-year-old Ronald D. Dykstra of Sumas, were taken to St. Joseph Hospital.

Dykstra was in satisfactory condition as of Friday after-noon, and West was treated and released, according to hospital staff.

All three were wearing seatbelts. The crash is still being investigated.
