Whatcom County sheriff's deputies arrested two people in Blaine Thursday, Oct. 2, who were featured on "America's Most Wanted" and suspected of abducting a South Dakota girl.

Officials in South Dakota accuse Eileen M. Sharp of illegally taking her 9-year-old daughter, Shanae Peterson, to British Columbia, Sheriff Bill Elfo said. Sharp doesn't have custody of Peterson, he said.

U.S. marshals contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who tracked down Sharp and her husband, Perry Sharp, and Shanae Peterson and took them to the Peace Arch Border Crossing. Deputies arrested the Sharps and booked them into Whatcom County Jail, Elfo said.

Eileen Sharp was arrested on investigation of illegally taking a child across state lines. Perry Sharp was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime. They will be extradited to South Dakota to face charges.

Shanae Peterson will be reunited with her father soon, Elfo said.
