A Bellingham antique store is the latest business struck in a string of break-ins that appear to be connected, according to the Bellingham Police Department.
Etta's Attic Antiques, at the corner of Holly and Prospect streets, was broken into sometime overnight Friday, Nov. 29.
It appeared that a cinder block was used to break the glass door of the business, and the burglar broke into glass cases and stole jewelry, owner Sharon Quast said. The store was littered with glass, she said.
"It was devastating to me," she said. "I feel so invaded."
Never miss a local story.
Though the door is boarded up, the store is still open, she said.
This marks the third weekend in a row in which local businesses have had their glass doors broken in so that cash or valuables could be taken. A detective has been assigned to the break-ins, and police are doing extra patrols during the holiday season.
