A Whatcom County nurse has been ordered to take part in a substance abuse monitoring program after admitting to taking a powerful painkiller meant for three patients, the Washington state Department of Health announced Monday, Aug. 8.
Robyn N. Eldridge told the state Nursing Commission that she was diverting fentanyl, a potent controlled substance.
The case stems from incidents in April 2015. Her employer questioned her the next month, and the state subsequently charged her with unprofessional conduct.
Eldridge could lose her nursing license if she fails to follow the commission’s order, according to papers filed with the DOH.
