City and county offices, schools, most retail stores and services will be operating Monday, Oct. 12, while the post office and most banks will close for Columbus Day. The city of Bellingham now recognizes the day as Coast Salish Day and not Columbus Day, which is the federally recognized holiday. Some places also recognize it as Indigenous Peoples Day.
Those planning to travel should expect a lot of closures in Canada in observance of that country’s thanksgiving holiday Monday.
Here is a list of local services and their status Monday:

Bellingham parking meters: Enforced.
Bellingham library branches: Open.
