Ballots are due Tuesday, Feb. 10, for voters in the Ferndale, Everson and Nooksack areas and Blaine and Nooksack Valley school districts

The Blaine School District is asking voters to approve a $45 million bond that would pay to renovate the high school and upgrade Blaine elementary and primary school buildings. The 20-year bond would replace the current bond that expires in 2016.
Tax rates are projected to cost property owners $1.04 per $1,000 of a home’s assessed value, or $260 a year for a $250,000 home. That is slightly less than the rates of the current bond.
Never miss a local story.
Nooksack Valley School District is looking for voter approval of a $27.9 million bond that would replace Nooksack Valley Middle School, renovate parts of Nooksack Valley High School, and add classrooms to Nooksack Valley Elementary School.

Ferndale, Everson and Nooksack voters are being asked if their cities should officially join the fire districts that already provide services in their area. Voters in Whatcom County Fire Districts 1 and 7 are being asked the same question from their end. No tax rates or services would change if the proposals pass.
