A TV program about the Bellingham motorcycle shop Super Rat will premier at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, on Velocity, at Comcast channel 663.
Last spring and summer, Velocity filmed brothers Carl and Mark Bjorklund as they rebuilt an aging Ducati with the goal of reaching 200 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The footage was shot for the Velocity show “Cafe Racer,” which has since been renamed “Naked Speed.”
“Naked Speed” is designed to take viewers inside what Velocity calls “the underground society of a special breed of motorcyclists – those that shun comfort in favor of a bike’s speed and handling.”
The Bjorklund brothers, along with Jason Omer of Ferndale and Bill Woods of Shoreline, are the subject of a documentary, “ Out of Nothing,” that premiered in Bellingham last May. The film follows the foursome as they travel to Bonneville to participate in the annual BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials. “Out of Nothing,” with a mostly Bellingham film crew and with backing from improv comedian Ryan Stiles, has won numerous awards at film festivals in this country and overseas.
